Mark Hart, Director of Sweethart Coffee & Cake Ltd has opened his new café in Blackhill’s, Consett. Sweethart Coffee & Cake Ltd were awarded £38,800 under the Rural Growth Network in May of this year.
The project, which saw the renovation of the new premises on Durham Road in Consett, has already created 4 new jobs, including an apprentice, and Mark is delighted with how well received his bakery has been to date.
The former builder, who turned his hand to baking following a back injury, builds on the success of his first café located just minutes away on Derwent Street. Opened in 2012, Mark quickly saw the need for larger premises.
The new café, which replaces the one on Derwent Street, includes a training room, larger kitchen, commercial sized ovens and a much larger seating area, and will enable Mark to grow the wholesale element of his business.
